Our 5th Annual Golf Classic took place over the bank holiday weekend and it was the most successful one to date. Thank you to everyone who supported it in any way.  We are extremely grateful. Thank you to our main sponsors Kelly & O'Callaghan Chartered Quantity Surveyors. Presentation of prizes took place in the Whistle Stop, thank you to Pat for sponsoring the event and congratulations  to all the prize winners. More on this next week. 

Our Juvenile and Junior Opening evening will take place this Tuesday 6th from 7-8 pm.
Places are limited this year so get there early to avoid disappointment.

Virginia Golf Club Matchplay Draws

Matchplay New Format/Rules & Handicap Allowances

  • Open Draw Format for all rounds

  • Draw for subsequent rounds will take place 1 day after completion date

  • To be included in round two match must be completed

  • Were a match has not been played by agreed dates both parties will be contacted by the Competition secretary and a decision will be made on names to be carried forward into next round (By Committee)

  • No extension will be granted

Singles – Play all holes from stone Tee Markers. The players on the top line of the draw have the honour at the first hole. Handicap allowance is the full difference between the player’s handicaps.

Mens Fourball – Play all holes from stone Tee Markers. The lowest handicap player gives strokes to the other three players, based on 90% of the difference between the lowest handicap and that of each player. Honour on first tee goes from lowest to highest handicap.

Teams on bottom of draw to contact teams on top.

This competition is open to all members, old and new. 

"Junior/Juvenile lessons will commence Wednesday June 7th from 9.30-11 am and will continue each following Monday morning throughout June, July and August. 

Open evening for Parents will be held on Tuesday evening June 6th from 7 - 8 pm.

Places are limited so if interested it's important to get your child registered as soon as possible."

 

Our annual club Classic will take place this weekend- 2nd/3rd/4th June.

Well done to Vivian Connell who won the Jody Hetherton Memorial competition with 61 net just pipping Peter Gill on 62 net.

Next weekend is the Virginia Golf Club annual classic which is taking place on June 2nd 3rd and 4th, pair up and invite 2 non members. Want to play but don't have non member guests? Contact a committee member to join a team. Time-sheet posted in clubhouse.

9-Hole Stableford Comp

The new 9-Hole Stableford competition got off to a great start last night in glorious sunshine.A big turnout of both old and new members made for a great nights entertainment with Alice McGloughlin taking the honours with 23 pts. and Richard Kennedy  second with 21 pts. Hope to see everybody back again next Wednesday.

Well done to Conor McEvoy who won the Tom McGurk Cup with a 58 nett ,Derek Shekleton was second with a 60 nett.Next Sunday is the Jody Hetherton memorial Single Stableford competition ,timesheet is posted in the clubhouse.

There is a new 9-Hole Stableford Competition starting Wed.24th at 7.30pm and each week thereafter.Open to all members,entry fee 3 euros.
