Happy New Year to all members and friends of Virginia Golf Club. The 2018 Ladies Spring League commences on Saturday 13th and Thursday 18th January respectfully. Entry fee is €40 and must be paid in the first day. A full list of rules is available in the clubhouse. The Turkey competitions resumed last weekend with Dave Reilly taking the honors on 43 pts and John Donnegan was second with 42 pts., the final turkey competition takes place next weekend . Members are advised that the 2017 joint AGM is taking place on Friday the 8th in the Virginia Show centre at 8.30 pm .
The Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) and the Irish Ladies Golfing Union (ILGU) will host the WATC 2018 in late August and early September 2018 in Ireland. The two events will be staged at Carton House, where players will be tested on the world famous O’Meara and Montgomerie courses over the competition. The Eisenhower and Espirito Santo together represent an international festival of golf.
What's Involved
In order to deliver these two prestigious events in 2018, we will require the help and support of volunteers both “inside and outside the ropes”. Roles will include but are not limited to:
- Meet and greet at Dublin Airport
- Team registration and information desks at airport, Carton House and Athletes village
- Media room assistance
- Opening and closing ceremonies
- Athletes Village liaison
- Sponsor liaison
- Information on site at Carton House
- Assistance with official meetings and receptions
- Car parking assistance
All volunteers will receive induction, training sessions, uniforms to fulfill the role.
What's required for this position:

Great turnout for the Towns Cup at the weekend with over 60 golfers taking part , Gerry Hopkins took the individual prize with 40 pts. and James Fitzpatrick was second with 39 pts . The Captain would like to thank everybody for their support . The presentation of prizes and the towns cup which was very close with only a few points separating the teams will take place in the Whistle Stop next Friday 20th October where the winning town will be announced on the night .All outstanding prizes will also be presented on the night. As this is the last prize giving of our current Captain Sean McEvoy we would request as many members to attend as possible and also to support our kind sponsor the Whistle Stop . Next weekend is an 18 hole Stableford competition , timesheet will be posted on the website and in the clubhouse .Seniors Golf and lunch is postponed until Tuesday 31st Oct. due to storm damage.
