Chestnut Tree Spring League 2018 - RULES
Entry fee €35 to be paid prior to playing in the League.
The entry fee is payable in full not weekly instalments
Each player to sign the Competition Book and enter card on the Computer.
Every Sunday is an 18 hole Stableford competition
A timesheet will apply; this time sheet will change weekly whether the competition takes place for that week or not.
Each player is to ensure their own card is entered into the computer and that the score on the system matches the card.
The best five cards on each team to count each week for the team competition
The score will be your best front or your best back nine to count for the team score
It is vital that you do not Non Return your score card
A Time sheet will apply for Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 13:00pm
Saturday shotgun start 08:30 am and 13:00 pm
In the event of a draw the winning team will be decided via countback.
If still tied the winning team will be the best gross score of the top 5 on the final day
WEEKLY INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION
Each week an Individual Prize will be awarded to the best individual score on the day (OVER 18 HOLES). This prize can be won by a player, if not in the league, who has paid their entry fee for that day’s competition.
Weekly individual winners, of Non-Qualifying competitions, will be deducted two stableford points for the remainder of the competition, when considering the weekly individual prize only.
Any players winning multiple weekly individual prizes will receive an additional two stableford points reduction, for each subsequent win, if Non Qualifying.
This point reduction will not apply to the overall player of the league prize.
The two point deduction rule will also count where players are paying per week and not entering the league competition.

Happy New Year to all members and friends of Virginia Golf Club. The 2018 Ladies Spring League commences on Saturday 13th and Thursday 18th January respectfully. Entry fee is €40 and must be paid in the first day. A full list of rules is available in the clubhouse. Mens News and Results
The Turkey competitions resumed last weekend with Dave Reilly taking the honors on 43 pts and John Donnegan was second with 42 pts., the final turkey competition takes place next weekend . Members are advised that the 2017 joint AGM is taking place on Friday the 8th in the Virginia Show centre at 8.30 pm .
Volunteers Required for World Amateur Team Championships
The Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) and the Irish Ladies Golfing Union (ILGU) will host the WATC 2018 in late August and early September 2018 in Ireland. The two events will be staged at Carton House, where players will be tested on the world famous O’Meara and Montgomerie courses over the competition. The Eisenhower and Espirito Santo together represent an international festival of golf.
What's Involved
In order to deliver these two prestigious events in 2018, we will require the help and support of volunteers both “inside and outside the ropes”. Roles will include but are not limited to:
- Meet and greet at Dublin Airport
- Team registration and information desks at airport, Carton House and Athletes village
- Media room assistance
- Opening and closing ceremonies
- Athletes Village liaison
- Sponsor liaison
- Information on site at Carton House
- Assistance with official meetings and receptions
- Car parking assistance
All volunteers will receive induction, training sessions, uniforms to fulfill the role.
What's required for this position:
Friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers are needed.
