On Sunday 22nd April we had our first Medal completion of the year. A return to stroke play and qualifying meant a different mind-set was required with Gerry Phipps pulling out all the stops to return a magnificent Nett 58 shots just edging out Adrian Kelly by a single stroke.

The Chestnut Tree Spring League presentation took place on Friday last where Adrian Kelly accepted the trophy on behalf of his team. After a titanic battle, interrupted by the weather on multiple occasions, the League finished up with Adrian’s charges finishing a mere 4 points ahead of Teams 1 & 3 captained by Pat Murphy and Vivian Connell, respectively. Martin Redmond was the winner of the individual player of competition.

Men's Spring League finished up yesterday with the outcome in doubt up to the very end.
Full results will be published after the Prize-giving in The Chestnut Tree next Friday night.

A Bank Holiday weekend provided Virginia Golf Club with an opportunity to dodge the recent bad weather, get in a trip to Croke Park and play Round 5 of our Spring League. Neil Skeffington’s Team came out top this week while the evergreen Eric Davidson took the individual honours.
Next weekend we will have the Captains’ Drive-in with Captain Martin and Lady Captain Marese hosting us all for their ceremonial start to their year. To accommodate this the Round 6 of the Spring League will be played on Thursday (subject to Ladies having the priority on the Course), Friday and Saturday. Round 7, the final Round will be held over the 14th and 15th of April.

Entry fee €35 to be paid prior to playing in the League.
The entry fee is payable in full not weekly instalments
Each player to sign the Competition Book and enter card on the Computer.
Every Sunday is an 18 hole Stableford competition
A timesheet will apply; this time sheet will change weekly whether the competition takes place for that week or not.
Each player is to ensure their own card is entered into the computer and that the score on the system matches the card.
The best five cards on each team to count each week for the team competition
The score will be your best front or your best back nine to count for the team score
It is vital that you do not Non Return your score card
A Time sheet will apply for Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 13:00pm
Saturday shotgun start 08:30 am and 13:00 pm
In the event of a draw the winning team will be decided via countback.
If still tied the winning team will be the best gross score of the top 5 on the final day
WEEKLY INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION
Each week an Individual Prize will be awarded to the best individual score on the day (OVER 18 HOLES). This prize can be won by a player, if not in the league, who has paid their entry fee for that day’s competition.
Weekly individual winners, of Non-Qualifying competitions, will be deducted two stableford points for the remainder of the competition, when considering the weekly individual prize only.
Any players winning multiple weekly individual prizes will receive an additional two stableford points reduction, for each subsequent win, if Non Qualifying.
This point reduction will not apply to the overall player of the league prize.
The two point deduction rule will also count where players are paying per week and not entering the league competition.
